2010 Mie, JP

In my work “Hana” I use a drawing I made during an art research in China. This drawing is inspired by work from the Miao people. This is a Chinese minority group living in the mountains. The Miao don’t communicate by writing, instead they make beautiful embroideries about their history and philosofy. I brought the drawing to many places in Japan, including the mountainsites and made photos from it against various back grounds. During the exhibition I organized, the large images where placed on the wall. I was interested in what new meaning or sense this image combination would bring the spectator.
